The Club was founded in 1971 by eleven far sighted, hard working and courageous women and named ´The San Juan English Speaking Womens Club. Winifred Ness as President and Catherine Dumbreck as Secretary. In October 1973 the Statutes of the first Constitution were finally approved via the Civil Governor´s Office, whose duties have now been taken over by Generalitat Valenciana. Invaluable help was received through the good offices of a well known solicitor and Secretary General of the Provincial Diputation, Don. Juan Orts Serrano an anglophile and first Club Life Member. |

Activities practiced on a regular basis throughout the year
Once per month we have a Quiz, Dinner Dances with live music, Sunday Luncheons and Summer BBQ´s in the garden. The local Campello Animal Protection Society, Anglican Church, Royal British Legion and Help use the Club for their meetings and socials. We make monetary donations every year to various non profit making Charity Organisations in Spain. Two 6 day tours are arranged every year to different parts of Spain as well as various daily tours to local scenic and historic venues. Our Club is in many ways unique as we own our own property and all the work and organisation is done by volunteers at no personal gain whatsoever. Please visit us and see for yourself what we can offer you, to get better established in your newly adopted Country SPAIN and the Province of ALICANTE and it´s surrounding villages. |
